SEASONAL CREW MEMBER – AGRICULTURAL SERVICES

Employment Opportunity: Full-Time Seasonal Position (May – August, with potential opportunity for extension)

We're looking for an enthusiastic individual to bring their skills to our Ag Services team! Reporting to the Agricultural Fieldman, you'll play a vital role in keeping Beaver County beautiful.

POSITION:

Pesticide Applicator I (Pursuant to the I.U.O.E Collective Agreement, Local Union No. 955)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Applying herbicides to County roadsides.
  • Conducting weed and pest inspections to maintain the health of our landscapes.
  • Turf and Roadside Seeding.
  • Getting hands-on with mechanical brush and tree removal.
  • Tackling various other tasks as required.
  • Operation of motor vehicles, ATVs, sprayers, mowers, chainsaws, and other brushing equipment will be required.

QUALIFICATIONS AND PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Possession of a valid Class 5 driver’s license.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a knack for accurate record-keeping.
  • Mechanical aptitude is highly valued.
  • Background in Environmental Studies or Agriculture is a significant plus.
  • Familiarity with GPS and GIS technology is advantageous.
  • Training in weed identification and herbicide stewardship & application will be provided.

POSITION DETAILS:

  • Position Type: Seasonal – May to September 2024, with potential opportunity for extension.
  • Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, typically 7 AM – 3 PM (weather dependant).
  • Normal Workday: 8 hours per day, with opportunity for overtime.
  • Salary Range: $21.11 – $25.68 per hour.
  • Beaver County has a comprehensive and active health and safety program. A driver’s abstract will be required for successful applicants.
